Port Discovery

Boy did we have a blast today! This morning we ran some errands, but this afternoon, Mommy, Daddy & Grandma went downtown to Port Discovery for a fun visit. It's a children's museum, with all kinds of fun educational exhibits. They have a 3-story climbing tower (way to big for Owen), soccer field, water play, even a Maryland Public Television station, baby and toddler room, it's an amazing facility.

He really had a ball at Port Discovery. Maybe one of our best adventures yet. Or maybe it's that Owen is finally at the age where we should start doing these things because he truly enjoys them now, and is also at the point where his nap schedule is better suited to these outings.

While we brought the stroller with us, Owen's latest favorite thing is to hold Mommy & Daddy's hand and walk around. It worked out great, because we didn't have to keep putting him in and out of the stroller at each exhibit. He was very proud of himself walking around. We walked all around the entire children's museum. He really enjoyed it. And it was so great to reinforce his desire to walk.

You can tell that although he enjoyed it today, he will LOVE it in the coming years. The place was mobbed with kids, and everyone was having fun. I think we'll take Owen back in a few months. While most of the museum is geared to older toddlers and kids, we found a few exhibits that he had fun in, I think he'll enjoy the entire place in no time.

They had an entire room dedicated to baby and toddlers. Owen loved the trucks, push toys and blocks. He also enjoyed the slide and climbing stations.

They had a cool ball pit, that Owen enjoyed! It was way deeper than the one we have at home, but Owen really enjoyed it, he crawled all around inside it, and threw balls. It was so cool to see him smiling from ear to ear.

They also had an amazing new exhibit called Water Works. All the kids there are able to put on rain slickers and crocs for the exhibit. We didn't put one on Owen, but we did allow Owen to explore and play in the water. It was so cool, he had a blast.

Owen also loved the trains and all the exhibits that other kids were playing in. Owen walked everywhere, holding hands with Mommy & Daddy. He even pushed the stroller around for us. I have a hunch he'll be walking independently very soon.

What a great place for kids.

After such an exciting afternoon. Owen had a hard time winding down to take his nap, but he eventually conked out. After Grandma and Owen ate dinner, Grandma watched Owen, so Mommy and Daddy could go out to a nice dinner. It was so nice to get dressed up and go out to a relaxing dinner. Owen was such a good boy for Grandma, they played for over an hour before Grandma realized Owen should be settling down. He even went right to sleep for her. It was the first night Mommy wasn't there when he went to bed, and I missed kissing him goodnight, but it was very nice being an adult and having an enjoyable dinner.
