Let it Snow, Let it Sleet, Let it Rain...

Well it's been quite a day of weather. It was sunny, and clear this morning when we woke up. By nap time, it was snowing like crazy. By lunchtime, it was covering the deck, so much so, we decided we needed to break out the new sled (and boots and snow suit, and gloves).

So late this afternoon, we bundled Owen all up in his new snowsuit and headed outside. He hated all the layers, and by the time we were venturing outside, Owen was in a full blown screaming meltdown. But he quickly changed his tone, and although I can't say he LOVED the snow, but he wasn't adverse to being out in it.
He definitely liked being pulled along, and he enjoyed going down our super sledding hill, but what struck him most funny was when we were throwing snowballs at him! For some reason, he cackled with glee, just loving it. I don't know if he was just cold, or what, but he found it very funny.

Since we were housebound today and didn't get to do our errands or activities, we decided to break out the train Owen got for Christmas from Grandpa and Grandma Bev. He really liked the concept of the train, but wanted to push it around like a car, not let it go on it's own. He did really enjoy watching it when we could keep him back and let him watch, but he really wanted to help it move along. The box said 18 month, so maybe he's just a little young to understand the "self propulsion" concept, but I can really tell he's really going to be interested in trains in the coming months. He has a great train table, so he's got the perfect set up for his current and future train sets.

The snow kept us house bound all day, and other than the fun outside, we had a fairly frustrating day. We didn't get to go to Owen's orientation. Mommy had to skip her chiropractor appointment, and most especially frustrating, the highchair again presented the most challenge.
Owen is getting his molars and he seems to be refusing food. He barely ate his breakfast, and it took 3 tries to get him to eat lunch (that's three different tries in the high chair over a 2 hour period) It was very aggravating and tear provoking for everyone involved...
By the time dinner rolled around, Mommy's patience was shot and she couldn't deal with the fact that Owen didn't want to eat (again). It really made her upset. Last week we did great with eating, and we started this week off strong but are finishing poorly. I don't know what do do. I hate feeling like he's hungry, but he just doesn't want to eat, and the pediatrician said he should NOT learn that he can just drink his meal (aka sippy of milk). It's very very maddening, I don't know what do do next, except try again with tomorrow's breakfast!
A fun part of the evening was that Owen is learning how to walk and navigate the furniture with his push toys. We had been working on it this afternoon learning to back up when he runs into a wall or chair, but tonight he showed that he remembered what he'd been taught and took an entire lap around the first floor all on his own. I was so proud. It's funny how quickly the frustrations of the day can be usurped by giggles and achievements.

Hopefully tomorrow's weather will be clear and allow us to get out of the house again... And maybe eat a little. :)
