Weekend with Grandma

It's always tough when I get behind on my blog... Last week was very busy. We had a lot of packing to do around the house. We also had all our usual activities, school, gymnastics, and lots of errands. We also had to prepare for the weekend. We left Friday afternoon for Grandma's house. Owen did pretty well in the car, he almost always gets antsy about 45 minutes into the trip, and true to form we hit a bunch of traffic and Owen was very frustrated by the time we hit Hunt Valley (not even 1/2 way there).

But he was raring to go as soon as we got to Grandma's house. Within just a few minutes of arriving, he had already discovered all the exciting treasures that Grandma's house has. Like the fire poker, a shovel, and lots and lots of antiques to be moved around. He was in heaven! Owen played for a while and took a walk around the house with Daddy. Then we had a nice dinner. Owen was so good. One of his new favorite foods is Spaghetti O's. He loves them! (A rare statement when describing Owen and food). He also ate some peas and really was great through dinner. We had such a nice evening.
Saturday morning was a completely new experience for us all. We got up and had breakfast. But shortly after breakfast it was time for Mommy and Daddy to leave for the wedding. Mommy was very anxious about leaving Owen. It was sad to think I wouldn't get to spend the day with him, or kiss him good night, but we had to head out, and so we said our good-byes. Owen barely even cried, but I know he was a little unsure of what was going on.

Grandma had all kinds of treats for Owen. She had found some of Daddy's old trucks, and all his old match box cars, so Owen loved playing with that. He also loved walking outside with Grandma around the house. He LOVES to play outside, and her house had lots to explore.
Owen ate very well for Grandma on Saturday, he had a nice snack, lunch, then slept well, and then even ate dinner for her. Of course Grandma did what Grandma's do - and rewarded him with some special treats - Daddy's favorite "pink desert" and chocolate pudding. Shocking - but Owen loved both! He even ate the pink desert with 2 spoons he couldn't shovel it in fast enough!
Both he and Grandma were worn out, and they slept like logs. While Daddy and Mommy partied the night away at the wedding.

Daddy was part of the wedding party, so I was pretty much on my own. I hit the pool, read my book, relaxed in the hot tub, and took an entire hour to get myself dressed up (normally I'm showered and dressed in 17 minutes, so this was a treat to relax and take my time).

Hmm Where's the Bridesmaid?
Sunday, Owen was also very good, although not quite as willing to eat for Grandma. They still had lots of fun, and I know Owen will always do fine if I have to leave him again. I'm sure Grandma is still recovering today, but she needs to rest up, because we're heading to Kentucky on Thursday!
Progress continues at the house - all the plumbing rough ins have passed inspection, and so they finally poured the basement floor and garage floor today.
They also delivered the wood (LOTS OF WOOD) and will begin framing hopefully tomorrow. It will be very exciting to see the house start to take shape as the framing begins!

Owen loves to play at the new house. I think he'd love a shovel to dig around in the dirt. He always screams that he doesn't want to go, even when we're ready to leave. It's good that he enjoys being there as much as we do... especially since we're there EVERY day!
