Crazy Busy

Life is on fast forward!!! I can't believe it's been almost a week since my last post, what a slacker! But honestly, between the holidays approaching and Owen's birthday party this weekend, all the preparations are making my already busy life just plain nuts!

Where to begin... Daddy arrived home from California last Friday morning. We ran some errands in the evening, did some Christmas shopping, and then had dinner at Noodles and Company. Owen is finally starting to really eat what's put on his tray. He's quite a lazy eater, hard to believe this by looking at him, but he's just very happy with me just feeding him baby food, but we're working on a "NO BABY FOOD" meal routine.

Saturday and Sunday were equally busy. We went to Kenilworth Mall to view the trains. Owen was overwhelmed with the number of people, but really liked the trains. He looked on very intently, and seemed to enjoy himself. I'm sure this will be an annual tradition for us. Because of the mob there, we decided not to wait in line to see Santa. Better try that on a weekday morning, the line on a weekend is positively absurd!
We also had Sofia's first birthday party on Saturday. She was so cute, she's walking around so well, and really enjoying herself. There were a bunch of kids there, and Owen had a ball, that is until he had a meltdown from being playing hard, not eating and in need of sleep. We didn't get to stay as long as we had planned, because Mr. Owen was ready for dinner and bed, so we opted to come home early and skip dinner out. The pictures, and her Mommy tell me Sofia really enjoyed her cupcake and had a ball opening presents on her sugar high. We can't wait for Owen to have the same fun this weekend. I hope that he isn't too shy with all the people around.
It's so hard to believe that it's been a year already! Wait this time last year, I was still waddling around, still waiting to meet my little baby. Oh my, how time really does flies. And how much he has changed in just one year.

Over the weekend, we also went to Wegmans, ordered food for his party, and saw the trees at Valley View Farms. Seems like every where you go on the weekend there's a crowd. Owen lost a shoe at Valley View, and we didn't notice until we were in line to leave. Daddy and Owen went back through the mob and actually found an employee who happened to have picked up the matching baby shoe, and voila, shoe found. I was relieved.

Sunday, really began the tough approach to no baby food, Daddy and Mommy got quite an education at Sofia's party, as to where other 1 year old babies are in eating solids, and Owen seems to be very lazy, only wanting Mommy to feed him.
But, good news to report, after only 4 days, Owen is trying just about everything we put on his tray, he's not eating everything, but he's at least trying it. Believe me this is huge progress! New things he's tried - Chicken, lunch meat, ground beef, ketchup (LOVED it), french toast w/syrup (loved syrup), ravioli (not a fan), grape jelly (sticky but yummy), mac and cheese (yum). Basically sticky, sweet and messy scores big with Owen, but hey, we've made great progress this week. And not a single jar of baby food has opened since Saturday. Gerber will be very disappointed.

Now, meal time comprises of Owen smearing his face in food, and then Mommy and/or Daddy spending 30 min cleaning the kitchen, the high chair and the baby. The photos speak for themselves...
